Electrolysis Hair Removal - What's it all about?

December 1, 2016

For those of you who are experiencing annoying hair on the chin, upper lip or sides of the face, neck, breast, tummy or chest then electrolysis may be of benefit to you.

Electrolysis has been used for well over a hundred years and the technology is much the same. Using a combination of High Frequency which produces heat in the hair follicle and Direct Current which produces sodiuym hydroxide or lye to effectively destroy the dermal papilla.

With regular successive treatments (weekly, monthly) the hair will become lighter and finer.  Each hair is individually treated by using a fine disposable needle inserted along the follicle.

The experience you may feel is slight tingling and heat in the follicle.   Should you be feeling unwell, under pressure or if you are pre menstrual you may be more sensitive to the treatment.   It is recommended that you refrain from drinking coffee prior to your treatment as it may stimulate your response and if you are feeling unwell also to change your appointment to another time.

it is important to have a detailed consultation prior to commencing treatment as there are so many factors to consider.  The cause of the hair growth is important.  Any hormonal conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome may mean electrolysis will only maintain the growth that is there as the stimulus continues.

Generally speaking hair growth is often caused by hormonal changes in the body and this can be seen directly when we start seeing darker thicker hair growth later in our lives when our oestrogen levels begin to decline i.e peri menopause 30 years plus to menopause.  Electrolyiss can become a part of your 4-6 weekly beauty therapy appointment to maintain the unwanted hair growth we experience on many areas of the face and body.

With regular treatments electrolysis is very successful.
